DDWE LLC is a small Ukrainian company established in 2021 to support the development in the field of renewable energy. Currently, they are completing a series of experimental studies in Ukraine and exploring the possibility of relocating to Europe.
We had a small talk with Vitalii Semeniuk to get to know the company better
What is DDWE LLC primary focus at the moment?
The company focuses on the energy potential of the ocean, water desalination, deep-sea production, and storage of green hydrogen.
The main idea of the project is to combine several technologies—desalination of seawater, underwater storage of compressed hydrogen/oxygen mixture, and membrane-less alkaline electrolysis — under the general name “Under Water Hydrogen.”
The proposed technologies are not the result of applying any new principles and represent a certain modification of known and tested processes, considering their application at depth.

Could you share more about why you decided on becoming a member of the cluster?
We have almost exhausted the possibility of developing the project in Ukraine together with relevant institutes — we plan to advance the desalination technology and the potential of membrane-less electrolysis to TRL4 by the summer of 2024. Further development is only possible in collaboration mode with companies that have the necessary technological competencies.
Our interest in communicating with the cluster arose from studying the potential of its members. Among your members are many specific equipment manufacturers or companies with key technological competencies. We are currently preparing specific information on individual project topics where organizations that may be interested in collaboration will be named. We believe that the development of the project to TRL9 overall can be supported by the competencies of existing members.
Do you have any projects you are a part of, a recent contract or other news?
We have completed work with the Gas Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine on studying the barrier properties of water for retaining compressed hydrogen and have submitted an application under the PATHFINDEROPEN program as part of a consortium of several European universities and interested organizations, primarily concerning research on the reconstruction of existing pipeline infrastructure.
