Changes in the board

We are happy to announce that Marielle Furnes Mannseth is our new board leader and Tomas Tronstad has joined the board.

“The board is central in developing the cluster’s strategy and priorities and is an important voice for the industry with a broad specter of competence from the hydrogen value chain.

I am excited that Marielle said yes to be our new leader of the board. Marielle’s solid competence and personal drive will give us great feedback and ideas on how we can further develop the cluster and the important collaboration between the actors of the value chain.

I would also like to welcome Tomas Tronstad to the board. We have had the joy to have a dialogue with him over several years, and his broad experience from the maritime industry makes him an important voice in the current energy transition”, says CEO Kristin Svardal.

Marielle takes the lead

Marielle Furnes Mannseth, Group Brand Sustainability Officer in Norwegian Hydrogen, has been a part of the cluster board since October 2022 and has already made her mark. Marielle has many years of experience in technology, product and concept development, brand development and sustainability work for global businesses.

“Ocean Hyway Cluster plays an important role to play in bringing different actors together in collaboration to build the hydrogen value chain. During our last meeting at Idelab, we worked on finding ideas to solve the chicken-and-egg problem/situation with hydrogen, which involves accelerating both production and use of hydrogen as an emission-free energy carrier.

I believe this is at the heart of the cluster's mission, to promote innovation and new solutions through collaboration between members. It is also important that the cluster acts as a supporter of the projects during realization. Furthermore, the cluster can contribute with a clear voice in the debate about what political and policy measures are required to trigger the potential of hydrogen in Norway and in the maritime industry”, says Mannseth.

New board member

Tomas Tronstad, Head of Technology and Shipping in Wilhelmsen New Energy has joined the cluster as board member. Tomas Tronstad has 30 years of experience in the maritime industry; ship classification, maritime R&D and technical consultancy. From 2017, Tronstad was heading a pure play hydrogen company focusing on integration of hydrogen solutions for maritime industry.

“I am pleased to join the Board because I recognize the good work being done by Ocean Hyway Cluster, and the excellent location /network it brings to support the Norwegian maritime industry. I hope to contribute with my experience from the maritime industry’s way of thinking when it comes to new technology – and the grand challenges in the early phases – both from earlier positions and from my current position at Wilhelmsen”, says Tomas Tronstad.
