Azane Infrastructure AS Secures ENOVA Grant of NOK 442 million to Build Ammonia Bunkering Terminals Along Norwegian Coast

Press release

Azane Infrastructure AS is proud to announce that it has been awarded a grant of NOK 442 million from ENOVA to support the construction of three ammonia bunkering terminals, together with partners, along the Norwegian coast.

This major funding represents a crucial step toward making ammonia a viable zero-carbon fuel option for vessels engaged in both coastal and offshore operations. Today, there is no dedicated infrastructure for ammonia bunkering in Norway or globally, making these projects essential to enable the green transition in maritime transport.

Norway has a strong track record as a first mover in adopting alternative fuels, including LNG and other clean energy solutions for shipping. With this initiative, we are continuing that leadership by pioneering ammonia as a maritime fuel, setting the stage for the next chapter in zero carbon maritime operations.

The terminals will be strategically located at Florø, Stavanger and Mongstad. The aim is to have all three terminals fully operational by 2029, ensuring timely availability of infrastructure to meet the growing demand for green maritime solutions.

“This funding from ENOVA is a game-changer for the maritime industry,” said Steinar Kostøl, CEO of Azane Infrastructure AS.

“By creating the infrastructure to make ammonia fuel accessible, we are paving the way for zero-carbon shipping along the Norwegian coast and beyond.”
